The B-26 Marauder was a twin-engine medium bomber notorious early in its service life for an exceptionally high accident rate during training — crews nicknamed it the "Widow Maker" and the "Flying Prostitute" — before modifications and better training procedures rehabilitated its combat record in the Mediterranean and European theaters.
