The effigy is rendered in fine neoclassical style with naturalistically detailed hair. A Latin circular legend surrounds the portrait, separated from the beaded border by a flat rim. The field is plain and unadorned, with the truncation of the bust falling near the lower quarter of the coin. |

The date 1816 and the mintmaster's initials IGS appear in the exergue or lower field below the shield, with the standard fineness inscription completing the legend. |
