Reverse description Central field bears the distinctive eight-pointed cross of the Order of Saint John, rendered as a bold plain cross with squared terminals, occupying most of the inner circle. The cross divides the field into four quadrants. A circular Latin legend surrounds the inner circle, invoking the Order's patron saint. The coin's edge shows the typical irregular dentillation produced by hammered manufacture.
