| Reverse description | Central motif depicting the Temple of Heaven (天壇, Tiantan) in Peking, rendered in fine detail with its characteristic triple-tiered circular roof surmounted by a gilded finial, set upon a cylindrical drum base with surrounding terrace walls and balustrades. The architectural composition occupies the full height of the inner field and conveys the grandeur of the imperial monument in low relief. The denomination 壹角 (one chiao) is inscribed in large Chinese characters to the left and right of the temple respectively. A beaded border frames the entire design. |
