Aanvullende informatie

Cuba maintained a dual-currency system from 1994 until its formal unification in 2021, running the convertible peso (CUC) alongside the standard Cuban peso (CUP). This centavo belongs to the CUP series — the currency used by ordinary Cubans for subsidized goods and state wages, as opposed to the tourist-facing convertible peso. The practical gap between the two currencies was fixed at 24:1, a disparity that structured daily economic life for nearly three decades before the government collapsed the system in January 2021.
