| Opis rewersu | The reverse displays the denomination inscription UN CENTAVO DE QUETZAL in large, bold block lettering arranged across the central field in four lines, occupying the majority of the coin's surface. The text is set in a distinctive decorative typographic style with a beaded border encircling the entire design. The field is otherwise plain, with no additional ornamental devices. |

Guatemala's 1929 centavo was struck during the long dictatorship of Lázaro Chacón, who had assumed the presidency two years earlier following a contested election. The Philadelphia Mint produced this issue — as it did for many Central American republics lacking domestic minting infrastructure — under contract arrangements that were standard practice for the region through much of the early twentieth century.
