| Obverse description | A draped allegorical figure of Liberty seated facing right upon a low platform, holding aloft a lit torch in her raised right hand and resting her left hand upon a tablet of laws inscribed with text, symbolizing the Reform Laws of Juárez. To her left stands a fasces bound with cord, evoking civic authority and republican virtue. The circumferential legend reads LIBERTAD Y REFORMA, divided by two pellets at left and right, with the engraver's name PAREDES incused along the lower exergue beneath the platform. |

| Reverse description | The denomination UN CENTAVO and date 1863 are inscribed in three lines at the center of the field, enclosed within a large wreath of laurel and oak branches tied at the base with a bow, the whole composition framed by a fine inner border. The mint mark Mo appears in small characters at the lower center, beneath the wreath knot, identifying the Mexico City Mint. The design is clean and typographically formal, consistent with the coinage reform introduced under President Benito Juárez. |
