背面描述 Central round hole surrounded by an elaborate decorative composition featuring two stylized lotus flowers in bloom with buds, set symmetrically at the lower left and lower right of the field, tied together by a ribbon bearing a floral rosette at the base. Above the hole, Javanese script is arranged in two lines, while Arabic script encircles the upper rim of the coin. A further floral and foliate border frames the entire design. The overall composition reflects the dual cultural heritage of the Netherlands East Indies, incorporating both Malay-Arabic and Javanese scripts in a formal, symmetrical layout.

附加信息

The Netherlands East Indies administration continued striking bronze cents through the late colonial period, but the 1942–1945 dates present an immediate problem: the Japanese occupation of the archipelago began in early 1942, and the colonial mint infrastructure in Batavia fell with it. Coins bearing those later dates were struck in the United States — at Philadelphia — under emergency arrangements, as the Dutch government-in-exile worked to maintain at least nominal monetary continuity for the colony it no longer physically controlled.

Philadelphia-struck pieces lack a mint mark, which has caused persistent misattribution in general circulation collections.
