In 1931, the Monnaie de Paris produced a series of pattern coinage for French Indochina exploring alternative compositions and denominations that were never adopted for circulation. This piece — silver-plated bronze — represents one of several compositional trials documented under the Lecompte reference series, with Lec#95b distinguishing it from related bronze and aluminum variants struck in the same program.
French Indochina's cent denominations were ultimately struck in bronze without plating.
