Reverse description The reverse features a centrally placed round hole surrounded by a raised ring, around which a stylised decorative device consisting of curved, tapering leaf or tusk-like forms radiates symmetrically, creating an abstract ornamental motif. The numeral 1 is positioned above the central hole within this decorative surround. The legend EAST AFRICA curves along the upper periphery, while the date appears in large numerals at the base of the coin. Small lozenge-shaped stops flank the lower field, and a dentilated border runs along the entire rim.
