| 正面描述 | Central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim, with four Chinese characters rendered in elegant seal script (zhuanshu) arranged in cruciform fashion around the central hole — reading top to bottom, right to left: 至 (Zhi), 和 (He), 通 (Tong), 寶 (Bao). The characters are boldly cast in high relief against a flat, unadorned field. A plain raised outer rim encircles the entire design, typical of Northern Song dynasty cash coinage. The coin exhibits an even dark bronze patina with areas of mineral encrustation consistent with prolonged burial. |

The Zhihe reign period lasted just two years under Emperor Renzong, the fourth Song emperor, whose 41-year reign was the longest of any Song ruler. Coins were routinely issued in multiple scripts during this dynasty — seal, regular, and running — a practice that created deliberate parallel series rather than simple replacements. The seal script version of this type tends to be somewhat less common than its regular script counterpart, a pattern consistent across many Song reign issues where clerical production priorities favored the more legible form.
