| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim, with four Chinese characters rendered in elegant seal script (zhuanshu) arranged in cruciform fashion around the central hole — reading top to bottom, right to left: 至 (Zhi), 和 (He), 通 (Tong), 寶 (Bao). The characters are boldly cast in high relief against a flat, unadorned field. A plain raised outer rim encircles the entire design, typical of Northern Song dynasty cash coinage. The coin exhibits an even dark bronze patina with areas of mineral encrustation consistent with prolonged burial. |
