Obverse description Four Chinese seal-script ideograms arranged in cruciform reading order around a central square hole, reading clockwise: 涼造新泉 (Liang Zao Xin Quan, meaning 'Liang made new coin'). The characters are rendered in a bold, archaic style typical of early medieval Chinese cast coinage. The field is plain, and the coin bears a raised rim on both inner and outer edges framing the legends.
