The characters read top-to-bottom, right-to-left in the conventional Song Dynasty fashion, with each stroke exhibiting the characteristic rounded, archaic forms of the seal script style. A raised inner rim frames the square hole, and a broader outer rim encircles the coin's flat field, both rendered with clean, well-defined casting.
