The legend 宣和通寳 (Xuanhe Tongbao) occupies the four cardinal positions around the central hole, with each character finely cast in the characteristic thin, elongated brushstroke style of the imperial script. The outer rim is raised and plain, framing the composition. The heavily oxidised iron flan displays a dark, russet-brown patina consistent with prolonged burial. |
