Obverse description Central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in the traditional reading order: top (咸), right (通), bottom (豐), left (寶), together forming the reign title inscription 咸豐通寶 (Xianfeng Tongbao). The characters are rendered in bold, well-defined strokes within a plain inner square rim and an outer raised rim. The flat field shows typical cast surface texture consistent with Qing dynasty cash coin production.

The Manchu glyphs are cast in raised relief against a flat, granular field, bounded by a plain inner square rim and an outer raised rim. The reverse is otherwise unadorned.
