| Obverse description | Cast bronze cash coin centred on a square perforation, flanked by four raised rim rims forming the characteristic inner and outer borders of the Chinese cash type. The four-character legend 太官通寶 (Taiguan Tongbao) is arranged in cruciform reading order around the central square hole in regular script (kaishu): 太 above, 通 to the left, 寶 to the right, and 官 below. The characters are rendered in low relief against a flat field, separated by plain quadrants. The coin displays heavy patination with green and brown encrustations consistent with prolonged burial. |
