| Obverse description | Central square perforation surrounded by a raised inner rim, with four Chinese characters arranged in the four cardinal positions around the hole and read in clockwise order in Seal script (zhuanshu). The legend 聖宋元寶 (Shengsong Yuanbao) occupies the field between the inner and outer rims, each character rendered in the archaic, formalised strokes characteristic of Song-dynasty seal script. A plain raised outer rim borders the entire design. The flat field shows the typical surface texture of a sand-cast bronze coin. |

| Reverse description | Plain uniface reverse bearing no inscriptions or decorative elements. The field is flat and featureless save for a central square perforation framed by a raised inner rim and a plain raised outer rim, both consistent with standard Northern Song cash coinage casting practice. |
