| Reverse description | The reverse field, divided by the central square perforation, bears a single Manchu character to the left and a single Chinese character to the right, both read vertically. The Manchu script reads ᠨᠠᠨ (nan) and the Chinese character reads 南 (nán), both denoting the Hunan mint designation. The characters are cast in raised relief against a flat field bounded by plain inner and outer rims. Depending on the variety, the Manchu character may appear in printed or cursive style. The coin is consistent with Qing provincial cash production from the Hunan Mint at Changsha. |
