The dual "Fu" mint mark on this cash — one character each from the Board of Revenue (Hubu) and Board of Works (Gongbu) mints — reflects the Qing practice of operating parallel metropolitan mints in Beijing under separate bureaucratic oversight. Both mints struck coins of nominally identical specification, yet minor differences in alloy sourcing and casting technique produce measurable variation between their outputs. The Kangxi reign saw repeated imperial edicts attempting to standardize cash weight and brass composition across all provincial and metropolitan furnaces, with only partial compliance.
