| Beschrijving voorzijde | Cast brass cash coin of round form with a central square perforation, bearing the four-character reign legend 黃帝通寶 (Huangdi Tongbao) arranged in the traditional cross-reading order around the square hole: 黃 above, 通 to the right, 寶 below, and 帝 to the left, all rendered in regular script (kaishu). The characters are boldly cast in raised relief against a flat field, with a plain inner rim encircling the square aperture and a raised outer rim defining the coin's circumference. The overall style is consistent with locally produced rebel-issue cast coinage of the mid-nineteenth century, exhibiting characteristic irregularities in casting quality. |

The Manchu character ᠪᠣᠣ (Boo) appears to the left of the hole and the Chinese character 浙 (Zhe) appears to the right, both cast in raised relief in regular script. A raised inner rim borders the square aperture and a plain raised outer rim encircles the coin. The casting surface displays the textured patina and minor irregularities typical of rebel-issue emergency coinage produced in the Zhejiang region during the 1858–1864 period. |
