The Hàm Bình reign period (1205–1210) falls within the early Trần dynasty's consolidation of power following the decline of the Lý — though the attribution of cash coins to specific reigns in this era remains contested among specialists. The "private issue" qualifier in Barker's classification suggests this piece may have been cast outside direct imperial supervision, a practice not uncommon in medieval Vietnamese numismatics where local foundries operated with considerable autonomy.
