| Obverse description | Central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese ideograms in regular script (kaishu), arranged in cruciform reading order within a plain raised rim. The four characters 咸平元寶 (Hàm Bình Nguyên Bảo) are positioned at the cardinal points relative to the central void, each cast in bold relief against a flat field. The coin exhibits characteristic Vietnamese cash coin style with a relatively wide rim and a slightly irregular square hole typical of cast copper issues of the period. The surface shows an aged green and brown patina consistent with a copper alloy coin of medieval Southeast Asian origin. |
