Obverse description The obverse presents the four-character reign title legend in kaishu (regular script) arranged in the traditional cross pattern around the central square perforation: 道 (Dao) above, 光 (Guang) to the right, 通 (Tong) to the left, and 寶 (Bao) below, reading top-to-bottom, right-to-left. The raised characters are bold and well-defined, set within an unadorned field. A plain raised rim borders the coin, and the square central hole is framed by a raised square rim, typical of Qing dynasty cast cash coinage.
