| Descrizione del dritto | Central field dominated by the quartered heraldic shield of the Order of Saint John, displaying the traditional devices of the Hospitallers. The escutcheon is rendered in a late medieval style typical of hammered coinage of the period. A Latin legend encircles the shield along the outer periphery, interrupted by a small cross at the top. The flan is irregularly shaped, as characteristic of hammered silver coinage of the sixteenth century. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | A bold cross pattée occupies the centre of the reverse, dividing the field into four quarters, each adorned with a small decorative element at the re-entrant angles. The arms of the cross are rendered in relief with slightly flared terminals. A circular Latin legend surrounds the cross, invoking the intercession of Saint John the Baptist as patron of the Order. The overall design follows the established iconographic tradition of the Knights Hospitaller coinage struck at Malta during the sixteenth century. |
