The counterstamp was applied to a cut segment of a Spanish colonial 8 Reales cob (macuquina) coin, authorizing its circulation as a 1 Bit piece. The host coin's original surface is visible surrounding the stamp, exhibiting the characteristic irregular texture of hammered silver coinage.
