Obverse description Crude laureate bust of a male figure facing right, imitating the effigy of Septimius Severus, rendered in a barbarous style characteristic of Germanic tribal goldwork. The portrait features a stylized, roughly executed face with exaggerated features, surrounded by a schematic laureate wreath. A partial, garbled legend appears before the bust, reflecting an illiterate or phonetic imitation of Roman imperial titulature. The overall execution is consistent with a cast barbarous imitation produced beyond the Roman frontier.
Obverse script Latin
Obverse lettering S8IV
