Obverse description Heraldic shield bearing the arms of Cardinal Annibale Albani, surmounted by the papal umbrella (umbraculum) and crossed keys of Saint Peter, all flanked by elaborate baroque scrollwork supporters. A star appears at the center of the shield, which rests upon three graduated steps. The circumferential legend reads SEDE VACAN· MDCCXXXX, denoting the Sede Vacante of 1740, and is separated from the inner device by a milled border.

Reverse description The denomination inscription VN BAIOCCO ROM· and the Arabic date 1740 are displayed in four lines within a decorative baroque cartouche with ornate scrolled frame.
