Obverse description Central field occupied by a rectangular cartouche containing multiple lines of Arabic script in bold, deeply struck Naskh calligraphy, incorporating the Shahada and royal titulature. The cartouche is framed by a plain linear border, with additional Arabic legends disposed in the surrounding field and along the coin's irregular periphery. The striking is characteristic of hammered gold coinage of the eastern Islamic world, with high-relief legends and a slightly uneven flan.

Reverse description Reverse bearing multiple lines of Arabic script freely distributed across the field without a formal cartouche, struck in bold Naskh with the ruler's name and titles, likely including the name 'Izz al-Din and references to sovereignty over Kirman and Nimruz. Additional marginal legends partially visible along the irregular edge of the flan. The overall composition is dense and characteristic of Mihrabanid gold coinage of the mid-fourteenth century AH 7xx series.

Additional information

The Mihrabanids were a minor Sistani dynasty clinging to power in Nimruz through a combination of nominal submission to larger powers and shrewd local administration. 'Izz al-Din's long reign — nearly three decades — coincided with the turbulent aftermath of the Black Death and sustained pressure from the Kartid rulers to the north. That a gold tanka was struck at all during this period speaks to the dynasty's residual control over trade routes crossing the Helmand basin.

Album 2358 is sparsely documented in the auction record, making die-matched survivors useful for establishing the chronology of this reign.
