| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a bold, densely intertwined Nasta'liq Arabic-Persian legend filling the coin's entire surface. The inscription, reading 'بنده شاه ولایت عباس ضرب هراة' (Slave of the King of Wilayat Abbas, struck at Herat), is executed in characteristic Safavid calligraphic style with deeply struck, interlocking strokes that extend to the rim. The script is arranged in multiple registers without a defined border, a hallmark of Safavid hammered gold coinage of this period. The high-relief lettering dominates the flat, unadorned field, leaving virtually no open space. |
