| Obverse lettering | بنده شاه ولایت عباس ضرب هراة (Translation: The slave of Wilayat king Abbas Herat mint) |
| Reverse description | The reverse displays a bold Nasta'liq Arabic legend reading 'علی ولی الله' (Ali is the Wali of God), the quintessential Shi'a profession of faith emblematic of Safavid coinage. The inscription is rendered in deeply struck, interlocking calligraphic strokes that fill the entire coin field, consistent with the hammered technique employed at the Herat mint. Additional marginal legends are visible around the periphery, characteristic of Safavid ashrafi types. The overall design reflects the intensely religious and dynastic iconography of Shah Abbas I's monetary program. |
