| 表面の説明 | Central field dominated by the ornate tughra of Amanullah Khan, rendered in elaborate calligraphic style. The Hijri regnal year 1304 appears in Persian numerals below the tughra. A wreath of leaves frames the central device on both sides, tied at the base. The numeral (1) appears in the upper right field, with additional inscriptions in the upper left denoting the denomination. The coin's milled border is visible around the entire periphery. |

The Amani was introduced as part of Amanullah Khan's sweeping modernization program following Afghan independence from British suzerainty in 1919. The denomination itself was named after him — an unusual act of self-inscription into the monetary system that reflected his increasingly autocratic confidence during the mid-1920s. His reforms, including this coinage, contributed directly to the conservative backlash that ended in the Khost rebellion and, eventually, his abdication in 1929.
Fr#34 confirms this as the Frick-referenced gold type, struck at Kabul with .900 fineness — a standard borrowed deliberately from European practice as Amanullah sought international monetary legitimacy.
