| Obverse description | The obverse field is dominated by the Shi'a kalima rendered in bold, deeply-struck nasta'liq calligraphy, divided across two registers by a horizontal cartouche border. The upper arched field carries the first part of the shahada — 'la ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasul Allah' — while the lower rectangular cartouche contains the declaration 'Ali wali Allah', affirming the Shi'a confession of faith. A secondary border of diagonal hatching or short strokes encircles the entire design, and a faint Arabic marginal legend is partially visible along the inner rim. The flan is irregular, characteristic of hammered production, and bears a suspension hole pierced through the upper edge, indicating later use as an ornament or amulet. The overall calligraphic style is consistent with late Safavid-Zand period provincial coinage. |
