1 Abbasi - Safi I Safavi Type C, Tiflis

Tiflis — modern Tbilisi — functioned as a Safavid provincial mint intermittently across the seventeenth century, its output reflecting the city's contested status between Persia and the Ottoman Empire. Shah Safi I recaptured the city in 1636 following the Treaty of Zuhab, which had formally ended the Ottoman-Safavid War and redrawn the frontier. These Tiflis abbasis belong to the narrow window before Safi's death in 1642, struck in a city that had changed hands violently and repeatedly for decades.
