The legend reads 'Ya Karim' (O Generous One, an epithet of Karim Khan Zand), with the mint designation Dar al-Saltana Tabriz and the AH date 1176. Decorative floral or pellet ornaments are interspersed among the legend, a hallmark of Zand-era die engraving. The outer border is formed by a ring of raised pellets, and the flan edge is characteristically irregular due to the hammered production method. |
