Arnold of Egmond's tenure as Duke of Guelders was defined less by governance than by war — with his own son. Charles of Egmond imprisoned Arnold in 1465 and held him captive for years, eventually forcing his abdication. The fractional copper coinage of this reign, spanning nearly five decades of dynastic instability, circulated through a duchy that changed hands, allegiances, and effective rulers multiple times.

Van der Chijs 29.9 places this among the smaller denominations that absorbed the heaviest daily use. Few survive outside heavily worn examples.
