Obverse description Central field displays the impaled coats of arms of Jülich and Gelre side by side, rendered in low relief characteristic of hammered medieval coinage. The armorial design is enclosed within a pearled inner circle. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters runs along the outer periphery of the flan, partially visible due to the irregular striking of the planchet. The overall design reflects the heraldic conventions of fifteenth-century Low Countries ducal coinage.
