Reverse description Crowned shield of France bearing three fleurs-de-lis (France modern), flanked on either side by the denomination numerals V and III indicating the value of one-eighth écu. The mint mark letter appears at the base point of the shield. The entire composition is enclosed within a circular Latin legend invoking the divine blessing, separated by ornamental stops. The crowned shield is rendered with fine detail typical of hammered silver coinage of the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries under Henry IV.
