| 背面描述 | A floriated cross composed of four ornate floral branches radiating from a central rosette or small six-pointed star, each arm terminating in stylised foliage or lily-like blossoms. The quadrants between the arms are plain. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border, with the circumferential Latin legend and date 1640 distributed around the field, beginning with a six-pointed star serving as a stop. |

Gaston d'Orléans — younger brother of Louis XIII and perpetual thorn in Richelieu's side — governed Dombes as its sovereign prince from 1626 until his death in 1660. His coinage from this period is notably irregular, with multiple die varieties documented across denominations; the "var." designation against Dy féodales 2982 is unsurprising given the inconsistent workshop practices at Trévoux, the principality's mint. Dombes issues of this decade are among the last feudal silver coinages struck in France before royal centralization effectively ended provincial minting autonomy.
