| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays a castle within an arched or circular border, a typical heraldic device of the Portuguese medieval coinage. The design is executed in low relief characteristic of hammered billon issues of the late 14th century. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central motif, partially legible due to the irregular flan and typical striking weakness. The overall style is consistent with the crude artistry of contemporary Iberian hammered coinage. |
