The reverse displays a shield or quinas device typical of Portuguese royal coinage of João I, with the mint mark 'P' for Porto visible. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped as characteristic of hammered medieval Portuguese billon coinage. The legend, partially worn, reads '+IhnS R€X PO...' denoting Joannes Rex Portugalie.
