The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A circular Latin legend surrounds the device, reading +IHNS : D : G : R€X : PO : A, abbreviating the royal title Iohannes Dei Gratia Rex Portugalie, with the terminal letter A serving as the Évora mint mark. The coin shows significant surface porosity and metal degradation typical of base billon alloy coins of this period. |
