Obverse description Central field dominated by a royal crown of Gothic style, rendered in low relief characteristic of hammered billon coinage of the late 14th century. The crown rises prominently from a beaded inner circle, with its distinctive fleurs and arched form clearly articulated despite wear. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design within a beaded border, reading +ADIVTOTIVM : NOSTR : IHNS €, invoking a devotional or royal formula associated with João I. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with hand-struck medieval Portuguese coinage. The overall design is typical of the Évora mint production under the first Aviz dynasty monarch.
