The shield is flanked on either side by decorative supporters or ornamental devices, with firesteels of the Order of the Golden Fleece visible in the field on this variety. A circular Latin legend surrounds the composition, reading DOMINVS · MICHI · ADIVTOR +, proclaiming 'The Lord is my helper.' The overall design is consistent with the standardised Habsburg Netherlands coinage type of the 1560s, struck on an irregular hammered flan with a beaded border at the rim. |
