Obverse description Draped bust of Mary of Nemours, Sovereign Princess of Neuchâtel, facing right, her hair elaborately dressed in tight curls. The effigy is rendered in a late 17th-century Baroque style with fine drapery visible at the truncation. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust, reading MARIA · D · G · PR · SVP · NOVICASTRI · 1694, with a floral ornament separating the date from the commencement of the legend. The coin's edge features a reeded border.

Reverse description Quartered coat of arms of the Duchy of Neuchâtel surmounted by a princely crown, displayed at center. The shield is divided into four quarters: the first and fourth bearing fleurs-de-lis on a semé field (Longueville arms), and the second and third displaying chevrons (Neuchâtel arms). A circular Latin legend surrounds the shield, reading OCVLI · DOMINI · SVPER · IVSTOS, with a reeded outer border framing the entire design.
