| Reverse description | Quartered coat of arms of the Duchy of Neuchâtel surmounted by a princely crown, displayed at center. The shield is divided into four quarters: the first and fourth bearing fleurs-de-lis on a semé field (Longueville arms), and the second and third displaying chevrons (Neuchâtel arms). A circular Latin legend surrounds the shield, reading OCVLI · DOMINI · SVPER · IVSTOS, with a reeded outer border framing the entire design. |

| Additional information |
Mary of Nemours inherited Neuchâtel in 1694 following the death of her half-brother Henri II d'Orléans-Longueville, making this issue one of her very first acts of sovereign coinage in the principality. Her claim was contested — nine rival claimants eventually pressed their cases before the Neuchâtel Estates — but she held the throne until her death in 1707, when the succession dispute was resolved in favor of Frederick I of Prussia.
The issue is scarce. Neuchâtel's minting activity under Mary was limited, and the quarter thaler denomination saw little subsequent production under her reign.
