| Beschrijving voorzijde | At center, the crowned Virgin Mary (Madonna) is depicted holding the Christ Child, the figures set above a crowned oval cartouche bearing the heraldic arms of Archbishop Paris von Lodron. Surrounding the central devices, the opening words of the Marian antiphon 'Sub tuum praesidium confugimus' are inscribed within the inner circle. The outer legend, commencing at 12 o'clock, reads the full titulature of the archbishop: 'PARIS DEI GRATIA ARCHIEPISCOPUS SALISBURGENSIS SEDIS APOSTOLICAE LEGATUS,' identifying him as Archbishop of Salzburg and Apostolic Legate. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Paris von Lodron governed Salzburg through the entirety of the Thirty Years' War, and his administration's survival — the archbishopric emerged essentially unscathed while much of the Holy Roman Empire burned — owed as much to aggressive neutrality and fortification spending as to providence. The war disrupted silver supply chains across central Europe, yet Salzburg's mines in the Hohe Tauern kept the mint supplied when neighboring ecclesiastical states were debasing or suspending coinage altogether.
The Zöttl reference numbers span seven varieties across the issue's decade-long run, reflecting subtle die changes rather than major redesigns — a mundane production reality, but useful for dating specific examples within the series.
