| Obverse description | At center, the crowned Virgin Mary (Madonna) is depicted holding the Christ Child, the figures set above a crowned oval cartouche bearing the heraldic arms of Archbishop Paris von Lodron. Surrounding the central devices, the opening words of the Marian antiphon 'Sub tuum praesidium confugimus' are inscribed within the inner circle. The outer legend, commencing at 12 o'clock, reads the full titulature of the archbishop: 'PARIS DEI GRATIA ARCHIEPISCOPUS SALISBURGENSIS SEDIS APOSTOLICAE LEGATUS,' identifying him as Archbishop of Salzburg and Apostolic Legate. |
