| 背面描述 | A bold cross pattée with trefoil or trilobed terminals at each arm, set within a quadrilobe frame formed by four curved lobes meeting at the center. A small pellet is placed between each arm of the cross within the quadrilobe. The entire design is enclosed within a plain inner border, producing a striking geometric and heraldic composition characteristic of Savoyard billon coinage of the period. |

Emanuele Filiberto recovered Savoy from French occupation only after the Treaty of Cateau-Cambrésis in 1559, which makes the earliest dates of this issue particularly charged — the duchy was effectively reconstituting its own monetary system from scratch after decades of foreign administration. He transferred the capital from Chambéry to Turin in 1563, and the mint infrastructure shifted accordingly.
The billon content reflects chronic silver shortages across Piedmont during this period, not a debasement in the punitive sense.
