| Beschrijving keerzijde | A standing female figure, personifying the city or Fortune, is depicted in the central field facing forward with arms extended and rays emanating from her head or shoulders, suggestive of divine favour or civic virtue. She stands upon what appears to be a rocky or undulating ground line, with small ornamental devices visible in the lower field. The surrounding circular Latin legend FATA VIAM INVENIENT — 'Fates will find a way' — alludes to the resilience of Zutphen during the turbulent period of the Dutch Revolt. The design is contained within a beaded circle, all struck on the same square klippe flan as the obverse, consistent with the piedfort character of this rare emergency-type issue. |
